It’s publishing week! 📚

Good morning.

It’s publishing week for one of our authors! Tomorrow (May 30th), More Than Medals by Betsy Mitchell and Ann Worthington will be available for purchase. The book is available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook formats, so regardless of your reading preferences, there’s a copy for you.

More Than Medals highlights the life lessons that Betsy Mitchell learned throughout her years swimming and participating in amateur sports. This book is a love letter to amateur sports and athletes, focusing on the importance of keeping the focus within amateur sports on developing skills, sportsmanship, and fun.

This is such an exciting week for everyone involved because we get to share a project that is not only important to our client, but that everyone involved has spent time nurturing.

On publishing day, we encourage you to consider doing one (or more) of the following:

  1. Consider buying a copy or two for yourself or those you know.

  2. If you’ve read an advanced copy, jump over to Amazon and leave a review!

  3. Share, share, share on social media! Whether it is the @cgsportsco post or your own creative post, help us spread the word about More Than Medals.

We are excited to share this book with you!

Haylie McCleney

In mid-February, Haylie McCleney and Sam Fischer started the podcast “Base Hits & Banter,” presented by USA Softball. To date, the two have released 15 episodes, plus some bonus episodes covering all corners of the softball world from college to the pros.

Sarah Thomas

Sarah Thomas recently celebrated her 42nd birthday and has chosen to continue to celebrate by lifting up those around her by raising money for Swim Across America.

Sarah explained online, “In honor of my 42 years of life, I am once again signed up to raise money for @saaswim. I’d love any contribution to this fabulous organization - no amount is too small! Last year, we raised around $10,000 during my Lake Mead swim alone, so I’d love to see what we can do between now and Denver’s event in August!”

Jack Dahlgren

Jack has recently partnered with Glen Lake Family Dentistry, stating, “I am pleased to welcome Glen Lake Family Dentistry as my official partner for a gold medal smile. My family has been going to this dentist’s office for three generations, dating back to when my grandmother first started going here in the 1960s! There is no doubt that Glen Lake is a ‘Family Dentistry’ and I couldn’t be more happy to add a local business with such a personal connection to my list of supporters. Catch me on the podium with the best smile, thanks to Dr. Scott and Dr. Olson!”

Success with Camps & Clinics

Many of us can remember being kids and attending a sports camp at a local college campus or community center. Camps and clinics provide an opportunity for young athletes to not only meet leaders in their sport, but to also learn from them in a variety of subjects, such as time management, stress management, and technique feedback (just to name a few).

At CG Sports, we are proud to collaborate with many athletes and clubs, who run/host camps and clinics throughout the year!

Whether you are an athlete eager to book more camps/clinics or a club seeking to host more, here are 3 things you can do to ensure success throughout all phases of an event.

  1. Outline your goals. Before you book an event, regardless of whether you are the athlete or the club in this scenario, take time to determine what you want to get out of it.
Athletes: How will this help you share your brand and your story with a new section of your community? What are your strongest subjects (time management, managing expectations, etc). that you can share with those younger than you to help guide them on their journeys through your sport?
Clubs: Is there a “hometown hero” that your young athletes look up to that you would love to partner with? When hearing about an athlete’s brand/story, whose aligns with your club’s mission and vision statements? What experiences would you like your athletes to leave this clinic with specifically (journaling opportunities, technique feedback, meet and greet, etc)?

  2. Be authentic. One of our favorite ways to help people at CG Sports is to work with athletes, teams, coaches, authors, and organizations on developing their brand. This is because each of us bring something unique to the table.
Athletes: remember your brand (and story) when connecting with clubs and share it! This allows those working with you to get to know the real you and encourages the conversation around more deals.
Clubs: every club in every region hosts passionate coaches and athletes who are eager to learn from and alongside pro athletes. Share your club’s story with the athlete(s) you want to bring for a camp/clinic and connect with them!

  3. Communicate, communicate, communicate. All phases of a camp/clinic require strong communication. This ensures that both parties are on the same page about the schedule, travel, social media posts, and all of the important nitty gritty details that go into planning, running, and celebrating an amazing camp/clinic.

Curious to learn more about our camps/clinics? Want to bring one of our athletes to your club? Learn more about our services online or reach out to us with questions you have!

We’re all excited about our newest release from CG Sports Publishing: More Than Medals! Make sure to grab your copy when they’re available tomorrow!
