Cejih recaps Q1 and goes to Texas? đ€
Good morning. It's me, Cejih đ
This week we officially close out the first quarter of 2023. Many highlights from the CG Sports team!
Buyers Like Categories
We welcomed legacy companies Morgan Stanley and Boingo to the sponsorship portfolio for our client, Sports Business Radio. Morgan Stanley joined as the Official Financial Partner while Boingo joined as the Official Technology Partner. Each sponsor will own those categories for the rest of 2023.
By categorizing sponsorships into easy to grasp buckets, we are able to create scarcity in the market for our products. As we all know, scarcity increases value! We will continue to roll this out for our athletes and new team sponsors in Q2.
My Trip to Texas
You may know that I write a weekly blog called "Cejih Explains." But did you know I also do speaking events where I give a presentation on How to Build Your Brand and Get Sponsors? It's official, Cejih Speaks! This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Gulf Swimming LSC Coaches Conference.
I gave two presentations on branding and sponsorship as well as a breakout session on contract negotiation. It was a blast! The feedback was very positive and confirms that there is definitely a need in the market for what CG Sports offers.
The Publisher, part II
March saw CG Sports publishing sign a bunch of new authors. All are Olympians or Paralympians. How cool is that?? I'm excited to share the new stories we are working on as well as the new releases we have coming up in May.
In Closing...
2023 has seen some weird stuff in the business market. This may have companies a little gun shy to jump in and spend on sponsorship right away. Use this as an opportunity to find a creative new solution. If a company knows you are working to meet them more than halfway, they may surprise you once the timing is right.
Fun fact: This June CG Sports turns SEVEN years old. What the heck?! Send me any ideas you may have for an epic party blowout
Have a good rest of March - see you next week!
Love - Cejih

This is my go to checklist that I follow after every speaking event, business conference or clinic where I meet a bunch of new potential contacts. This exact process has helped my book a ton of new business for myself and my clients. If you want to keep a full business calendar for yourself, follow these steps religiously every time.
CEJIHâS POST EVENT CHECKLIST:
Warm leads: Collect names/emails/company name from contacts
Data input: Get them input into a Googlesheet, vs hand written - saves you a ton of post event time
Upload to database: Upload into database as soon as possible. Have a system that makes this super streamlined for you to do.
Thank you email to audience: Have a pre-written âthank youâ email template ready to go.
You can tweak it to include specific things you covered during your speech.
Include an âextra creditâ offer. This can be a âclickâ or âdownloadâ or âvideoâ of content that wasnât covered. Or content covered but in more detail.
Give your host a shoutout in your thank you email. Classy move that will pay it forward.
Thank you email to host: IMPORTANT! Send a 1-1 thank you email to your host.
Feedback/Testimonial survey: Ask for a testimonial and make it super easy. 1 click + 1 min survey or Google form.
Add new contacts into CRM: Upload your new contacts into your CRM or Mailchimp for future email marketing campaigns.
Email nurture campaigns: Add contacts to nurture campaign.
1-1 reach out to warmer leads: There will usually be warmer leads from the event. Send a more personalized 1-1 email to these contacts as they may be future business opportunities you can snatch up.

We step into the Sports Business Radio Vault to look back on our in-depth conversation with Paul Westhead, the only Head Coach to win a NBA and WNBA championship (Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Mercury). Westhead is also the former Loyola Marymount University Head Coach (with Bo Kimble and Hank Gathers) and creator of âThe Systemâ high-octane offense.
