How mad was March!? 🤯

Good morning. March Madness was as exciting as we could have hoped!

March Madness lived up to its name this year. This year's tournament saw multiple major upsets, first-time National Championships winners, and the demolition of multiple records. In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the tournament, here are a few stats...

  • The UConn Huskies won their 5th National Championship title since 1999 and won every game of the tournament by double digits.

  • SDSU taught us about resiliency.

  • Caitlin Clark blasted records left and right, including passing Sheryl Swoopes for the most total points ever in a single NCAA tournament. Additionally, Clark scored or assisted on 63% of all of Iowa's points this tournament.

  • LSU took home the first National Championship title in program history and Angel Reese set an NCAA record with 34 double-doubles this season.

  • 9.9 million viewers tuned in for the final women's game, shattering the previous year's viewership of 4.9 million.

This year's tournament was exciting from start-to-finish. Congratulations to all teams, venues, organizers, and more on an exciting year.

From the Archives: How to work with an Editor

You've probably heard us say it: At CG Sports Publishing, we're in the storytelling business. Well yeah..., you might think. You publish books!

True, but too often in publishing, the final product isn't exactly what the author had in mind. Somewhere in the editing process, the story gets hijacked. We're sensitive to that sort of thing, so when we say "storytelling," we mean it -- we let you tell your story -- and our editors are here to really listen to it.

I like to think of editing as a relationship, not a transaction. You and your editor are a team working toward the same end -- the best book we can product. Here are three ways you can get the most out of your editor:

  1. Turn in your best work. If your editor is distracted by small but necessary fixes, they're less likely to see the big things you want them to catch.

  2. Have the conversations. If your editor flags or questions a section in your manuscript, help your editor understand where you were coming from, so they can guide you to where you want to go.

  3. Know that your manuscript is in good hands. It's like passing the baton on a relay -- when your manuscript moves to the editing phase, it's time to let your teammate do their job.

Today, the PSfCU has expanded with branches in New Jersey, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, as well as Mortgage Credit Centers in Connecticut, Florida, and Indiana.

Champion's Mojo, Episode 201: "Use Emotion to Perform Your Best"

This episode is about the impact of emotions on athletic performance and how using the most powerful positive emotions can make you perform your best!  Kelly and Maria agree that an athlete's (or any kind of performer's)  emotions before an event, can impact their results in a big way.

Positive emotions such as love, gratitude, and compassion produce oxytocin and norepinephrine, which make us feel good and powerful, while negative emotions such as fear, guilt, and shame produce cortisol and make us feel down and negative.

You'll also hear about the idea of using positive emotions to enhance performance, such as the idea of thinking of 10 positive emotions to evoke before a race to uplift you. And learn tips for getting rid of negative thoughts.
