The latest from CG Sports Publishing 📚
Good morning. Hard work pays off.
I'm an avid reader; I always have been. But despite all of the books I have consumed in my life, I had not put a lot of thought into the publishing process. That is until about eight months ago when our Vice President, Matt, called me to discuss joining CG Sports Publishing. An opportunity to get paid to read books? Sign me up! I was more than ready to break out my purple pen and mark manuscripts for grammar errors, clarity issues, and design inconsistencies.
What I didn't anticipate and am happy to witness firsthand: passionate conversations surrounding semicolon usage, text exchanges with updates on manuscripts and concerns about deadlines, oohing and aahing over the latest cover design, and more.
Today, CG Sports Publishing is proud to announce that Running and Returningby Vicki Ash Hunter, PhD is available for purchase! The sense of accomplishment to see everyone's hard work and hours of labor pay off is indescribable. This book is an introspective and insightful memoir where Hunter explores generational trauma and how, in her early 60s, she is finding her way to balance, strength, and confidence.

Preparing to write your own memoir
You're interested in writing a book, huh? First, let me direct you to sign up for the CG Sports Publishing newsletter for timeless tips on writing and reading, plus some reading recommendations and insight into the publishing world. Second, let me remind you of the power of a blog. Think of it as a chance to dive deep into several stories throughout your lifetime that relate to who you are now and how you got here. Think no one wants to read about it? Surprise, they do!
A blog is a chance to write out all the "small stories," so you can then decipher what should stay and what should go when you want to compile these stories and publish a book. What did you learn from that race back in 2010? How about the conversation you had with your parents the hour before you left for college and what your dad told you that made you cry? The talks with your coach before and after the worst meet of your life? Maybe the time you bought your first skateboard with the money you earned from your first summer job that sparked a fire in you...blogging is a great opportunity to reflect, practice writing in your unique voice, and find the theme to your story!
What else is holding you back from telling your story? We'd love to listen and help break down those barriers.
