‘Tis the season to binge-watch 📺

Good morning. There is a lot going on right now.

The first quarter of this year is ripe with a lot of big sporting events. The NFL is winding down the 2021-22 season; the Australian Open is edging closer to their final events; and the Winter Olympics are literally next week. (And those are only a fraction of the sports currently in season!)

This weekend will signify the start of an excellent stretch of sports binge-watching. The Australian Open will conclude with the finals of the Women's Singles and Men's Doubles on January 29th and the Men's Singles and Women's Doubles on January 30th.

Also on January 30th, the Bengals will go head-to-head with the Chiefs, while the 49ers and Rams will meet once more this season. The outcome of both games will determine who will compete at the SoFi Stadium for Super Bowl LVI and give non-football season fans a new opportunity to join a franchise's bandwagon.

Not interested in watching football or tennis this week? The NBA and NHL are in the heart of their seasons with games every night and college athletics are edging closer and closer to conference games.

No matter what your sport is: Happy Viewing!

CEJIH EXPLAINS
3 Ways To Get Deals Without a Big Instagram Following

Our agency has closed several million dollars in athlete sponsorship deals over the past few years.

We have yet to have an athlete with 100k followers. Some of our largest deals were for athletes with less than 20k followers, in some cases under 10k followers.

How do we do this? Hint: It has nothing to do with us the 'agents', it's all the athletes. See below.

Here are 3 things these athletes did to get sponsors, without having large social followings:

  1. Write your own blog about your journey.

  2. Creating a simple newsletter.

  3. Film video content.

A great example of an athlete who had success with this is the Breanna Stewart of the Seattle Storm. During the first lockdown of 2020, Breanna started a simple interview series over Zoom (and then posted to IG). The show was called "Around the Block" and she interviewed other NCAA, WNBA and NBA players. Later in the year, the media company Uninterrupted launched a podcast with Breanna.

Finally, PUMA signed a deal with Breanna for their 'hoops' collection. The title and theme of her Puma release video was called, "Around the Block."

DEMAND YOUR BRAND
Job Series - Informal Interviews

We are going to continue developing this job series as any branding you are doing is likely for the purposes of landing a new gig. Think of it as a less formal "interview." Plus, it may hep you skip a few steps when you do have that official process in place.

Let's go big picture for a moment, take an overview of your brand assets which we discussed in a previous post. What questions, from the perspective of a potential sponsor, recruiter, or hiring manager, do you feel like you answer well in these assets? Are you missing anything? How can you improve or answer these questions through more than just words on a caption? Take inventory from a specific goal company or brand you are looking to partner with, and align your personal brand elements and unique selling proposition (*in case you forgot). We're rooting for you!

CG Sports Publishing

The mission that drives CG Sports Publishing is simple: authors retain 100% creative control of their books. Does this mean they are alone and agonizing over every comma, anecdote, and potential citation? Of course not. Our in-house team is there to support our authors from manuscript production to the official launch (and every step in-between).

We have a lot of big plans in the works for 2022, so stick with us! It is going to be a wild ride!
