Live events galore!

Good morning. Beijing 2022 is here.

We would like to wish our amazing winter Olympians (Mick Dierdorff, Hagen Kearney, Rosie Brennan, and Erin Mielzynski) GOOD LUCK! Full Olympic coverage begins Friday, February 4th 6:30 a.m. EST on NBC.

Clinic season is in full swing.

I frequently think about how lucky I am to work for a company that not only prioritizes being passionate about one's job, but also giving back. One way that many in the sports industry give back is by hosting/running a clinic.

Live events are one of our favorite ways to give back because it is a win-win-win situation.

  1. Our Pros and Olympians are directly involved and, frequently, in charge. (A no-brainer in our opinion.)

  2. Younger generations get to meet their idols and practice drills, techniques, etc. that will help them further their own successes.

  3. We (the sports agency) witness firsthand the magic of professional athletes inspiring younger generations and we get to support that magic.

This coming weekend, CG Sports athletes will be hosting events in Ohio (Haylie McCleney - softball), Connecticut (Paige Madden - swimming), and Virginia (Elizabeth Beisel - swimming). And that is just the start - there are many more on the horizon.

We are one month into 2022 and there are many more events on the horizon! Keep an eye on your inbox for more information about up-and-coming clinics.

Other big news this week:

  • Kieran Smith listed among Connecticut's "40 Under 40: The Class of 2022."

  • Tom Brady has completed a historic NFL career, while CG Sports' Calvin Werts went a best time in his signature event: the 100 back. Bravo Tom Brady and Calvin!

  • Keep an eye on your inbox for exciting news from CG Sports Publishing in the next few weeks!

Get Strategic With What You Post

The best types of posts you can make get the attention of sponsors and generate more demand for yourself.

Not all posts are weighted equally. However, it is good to have a diverse mix of different types of posts. The most important thing is to identify what your strengths are and develop a strategy around them.

Below are some (not all) of the various types of posts you can make to get the attention of sponsors.

  1. In sport posts

  2. "How to" sport video or technique

  3. Posts about your "story/journey"

  4. Fan engagement

  5. Lifestyle and hobbies outside of sport

Job Series - Looping the Process

In this final job series post, it is time to address the potential rejection letter. While not all companies send a note to let you know that they have gone with other candidates, some do - at which point you should (1) understand that the fit simply may not have been right due to the company culture, and it is not always a result of qualifications different from the job posting, and (2) follow up to thank them for their time and ask how you can improve for next time.

This not only provides a chance to further the conversation, but also see if your talents may be of use elsewhere in the company and if your resume can be kept on file for future opportunities. The right career for you has several job options available to reach your goals.

Keep up the search and stay confident!

P.S.. I saw some quick tips from Gymshark on interviewing that were relevant to this series. Check it out.
