Let’s be honest ☕
Good morning. We need to talk about resolutions.
Let's be honest, New Year's resolutions can be a sore topic by the end of January. The newness of the year has worn off, the glitter of the holidays has officially settled, and work is back to the grind. All of this can make it hard for us to focus on our New Year's resolutions, many of which tend to be more "big picture" goals.
So how do you achieve your resolutions?
Set small, manageable goals. It can feel daunting to think about our resolutions. One way to tackle the "how will I ever achieve this?!" feeling is to break your goal down into smaller monthly (or weekly) goals. If you
Look at the big picture. Remember that the small goals you set help you to reach your larger goals. If your goal is to compete in an Ironman Triathlon, brainstorm and plan a week-by-week training plan that will best prepare you for your competition.
Record your progress. It can be tough to remember everything you have accomplished one month, two months, six months down the line. One way to remember how much progress you have made on your goals is to keep track of your daily/weekly accomplishments.
Celebrate success. Reaching your goals (no matter how small) is worth celebrating. If you goal was to move $1,000 into your savings, but at the end of the month you moved $700, you still made progress towards a financial goal. Celebrate it!
At the end of the day, remember to be kind to yourself as you work towards your resolutions. As the old saying goes, Rome was not built in a day!
