Why you should be watching golf 🏌️

Good morning. Have you ever really watched golf?

I don't know about you, but I've never been a big fan of golf. As a kid, I was neither coordinated enough to play nor could I sit still enough to watch major competitions.

That all changed this past summer. I'm still uncoordinated, but after watching several golf tournaments with my Dad, I have a renewed appreciation for the sport. If you've never considered watching golf, here are three reasons to give it a chance:

  1. The production takes an impressive amount of coordination and scheduling. Most tournaments require 120+ cameras to capture everything from impressive drives, zoomed in putts, aerials of the course, fans lining the green, and more.

  2. The venues are both historic and gorgeous. The oldest course on record is St. Andrews Links in Fife, Scotland and is recorded as opening in 1552. St. Andrews has hosted The Open Championship since 1860 and Getty Images has an impressive archive of almost 60K photos to peruse.

  3. The commentators' depth of knowledge is impressive. Each tournament the commentators must reference not only a player's statistics, but also know the history of the course and what is happening on each camera and at each hole.

And if you're coordinated and looking to expand your hobbies, golf is one of those sports you could easily play for years.

Enjoy the back-nine of this week.

This past weekend, the World Rugby Sevens Series held the first competition on U.S. soil in 2.5 years in Los Angeles. Despite a strong showing on Saturday, a number of injuries impacted the U.S. men's team's play on Sunday and they lost their final two matches.

Stephen Tomasin, serving as captain, explained, "With how much youth we have on our team, these moments can be stressful, so it's about giving them the confidence to know they're meant to be out there and meant to be in those moments."

To date, Tomasin ranks in the top three for points scored in the 2022 series with 234 points.

Your brand and an anxious audience--taking a look at this critical relationship

If there's any period of significantly low confidence consumers in the marketing world, the post-COVID era is it. This consumer hyper-criticality means that your audience may feel more vulnerable and anxious, meaning that they're quicker to scrutinize a company for mistakes, according to the American Marketing Association. So, as a brand, what can you do about it?

At this time authenticity is key, as well as transparent and consistent communication with your audience. Delivery and level of detail is also important, making sure to express the core values and motives of your brand. As the marketing world emerges from this low confidence era, keep in mind that confidence and stability, as well as clear communication, can take your brand a long way in the mind of an anxious consumer!
