Thank you, Serena 🎾

Good morning. Let's replace retire with evolve.

News broke yesterday that tennis icon Serena Williams will likely be retiring from tennis in the coming weeks. Williams’ goodbye was published in the form of a thoughtful and succinct "Farewell to Tennis" that was published online in Vogue.

If you haven't read it yet, you should.

Williams is steady, self-possessed, and honest. Her farewell is in her own words and on her own terms. The entire piece masterfully navigates the complex emotions that many athletes face as they transition out of their competitive careers. And, like many notable athletes before her, she has expressed frustration with the word retirement.

"Maybe the best word to describe what I'm up to is evolution. I'm here to tell you that I'm evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me," states Williams.

It's a poignant explanation that encapsulates what many athletes strive for in their lives post-competition and that is that their lives are not over once they stop competing. Their impact remains and there is more impact to be made.

Thank you, Serena, for your impact on and off the tennis court. You have revolutionized the sport and blazed a path for many more to follow.

Congrats on a storied career.

-- Taylor

Implementing SEO for Your Brand

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is constantly evolving, but as a company there is benefit in keeping up to date with the advancements and changes to the algorithm that SEO's operate under.

Here are 3 steps that you can implement in order to utilize SEO to benefit your brand:

  1. Knowing the search habits of your consumers. Getting to know your audience and your potential customers is key to developing a platform that will best market your brand to the people. Take the time and effort to identify your audience and their search habits to optimize your media.

  2. Create your content for optimization. Now that you've defined your audience and what exactly they're searching for, optimize your platform (e.g. website, social media) by modifying meta descriptions, links, or bodies of text such as titles--all while keeping in mind your target audience!

  3. Maximize website visitor conversions. Take a look at your platform's conversion rate, or the percentage of people that took a desired path (e.g. bought your product, took a look at your content). Your SEO campaign is only successful is these rates are maximized! in order to this, perhaps the structure or design flow of your platform may need to be tweaked.

So let's review: why are SEO's so important again? Even though SEO could seem overwhelming--search engine algorithms are constantly changing--making the most out of traffic incoming to your platform could put you ahead of competitors and increase your audience.
