Success with Camps & Clinics

Many of us can remember being kids and attending a sports camp at a local college campus or community center. Camps and clinics provide an opportunity for young athletes to not only meet leaders in their sport, but to also learn from them in a variety of subjects, such as time management, stress management, and technique feedback (just to name a few).

At CG Sports, we are proud to collaborate with many athletes and clubs, who run/host camps and clinics throughout the year!

Whether you are an athlete eager to book more camps/clinics or a club seeking to host more, here are 3 things you can do to ensure success throughout all phases of an event.

  1. Outline your goals. Before you book an event, regardless of whether you are the athlete or the club in this scenario, take time to determine what you want to get out of it.
Athletes: How will this help you share your brand and your story with a new section of your community? What are your strongest subjects (time management, managing expectations, etc). that you can share with those younger than you to help guide them on their journeys through your sport?
Clubs: Is there a “hometown hero” that your young athletes look up to that you would love to partner with? When hearing about an athlete’s brand/story, whose aligns with your club’s mission and vision statements? What experiences would you like your athletes to leave this clinic with specifically (journaling opportunities, technique feedback, meet and greet, etc)?

  2. Be authentic. One of our favorite ways to help people at CG Sports is to work with athletes, teams, coaches, authors, and organizations on developing their brand. This is because each of us bring something unique to the table.
Athletes: remember your brand (and story) when connecting with clubs and share it! This allows those working with you to get to know the real you and encourages the conversation around more deals.
Clubs: every club in every region hosts passionate coaches and athletes who are eager to learn from and alongside pro athletes. Share your club’s story with the athlete(s) you want to bring for a camp/clinic and connect with them!

  3. Communicate, communicate, communicate. All phases of a camp/clinic require strong communication. This ensures that both parties are on the same page about the schedule, travel, social media posts, and all of the important nitty gritty details that go into planning, running, and celebrating an amazing camp/clinic.
