Extra! Extra! New NIL guidelines available!

Good morning. Updated guidelines are now available.

The NCAA Division I Board of Directors recently clarified and released new instruction on how schools can be involved with the name, image, and likeness (NIL) activities of active, enrolled student-athletes on their campuses.

To be clear: this is not an exhaustive list of circumstances, but is meant to clarify how existing rules apply. Specifically, the board provided extra guidance for the following categories:

  • Education/monitoring for current students

  • School support for student-athlete NIL activities

  • School involvement with collectives and other NIL entities

  • Enforcement of NCAA rules related to NIL policy

  • Third-party administration of NIL activities

You can download the updated guidance sheet here

The NIL landscape is continuously changing and evolving. If you are a current student-athlete, it is important to stay educated and up-to-date on the expectations and rules regarding NIL rights.

If you have questions about NIL rights, reach out to us at info@cgsportsmanagement.com. We would love to assist you!
