The communities we create
Good morning. Build your community.
May is always an exciting month, filled with graduations and the start of new adventures. The start of a new chapter.
One element that is always exciting is the expansion of one's community:
Athletes: Whether you are graduating or returning for another season -- embrace your teammates. Know that you have a built-in community for life that is filled with resources, support, and connections.
Coaches: Pat yourselves on the back -- you have successfully guided another class to graduation. There may be tears, but there will also be a lot of smiles. Remember every PR, hurdle, and frustration.
Parents: You have supported your children through all of their ups and downs. Thanks to you, they are ready for any adventure that comes their way.
This May, I hope you celebrate the people around you and surround yourself with those who bring you joy, challenge you, and push you to be your best.
Enjoy your week, folks.

Why NCAA coaches have their own personal branded websites
NCAA college coaches can benefit from having their own personal branded website for several reasons:
Recruiting Tool: A personal branded website can serve as a valuable recruiting tool for college coaches. It allows them to showcase their coaching philosophy, team culture, and past successes. Prospective student-athletes and their families often research coaches during the recruiting process, and a well-designed website can make a positive impression, highlighting the coach's expertise and commitment to player development.
Promoting the Program: A personal website enables college coaches to promote their program and attract talented student-athletes. Coaches can feature information about their team's achievements, facilities, academic support, and any unique selling points that make their program stand out. A website acts as a centralized resource where recruits and their families can access important details about the program.
Communication and Engagement: A personal website allows coaches to communicate directly with their current players, recruits, and alumni. They can share updates, team news, and important information about practices, games, and events. Coaches can also use their website to engage with fans, supporters, and the broader community, fostering a sense of connection and building a loyal fan base.
Coaching Philosophy and Resources: A personal branded website gives coaches a platform to communicate their coaching philosophy, strategies, and values. They can provide insights into their training methods, game plans, and player development strategies. Coaches can also share resources such as training videos, articles, and tips, offering valuable educational content for athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.

So… how do you find a job? By making the job search process meaningful for you. The goal isn’t to find a job. That’s easy- you already know the steps needed to find a job. Apply, interview, case study, interview.
We often (unintentionally) use the job search process as a free-for-all to beat yourself up on all your shortcomings and failures and the only way it ends is when you get the job.
The real challenge is making the job search process enjoyable, empowering and motivating for you.
- By deciding not to shame yourself for every mistake
- By intentionally looking at and deciding what you’re making rejection mean about you
- Writing down what you say to yourself when looking at job postings or preparing for interviews, what is the majority of your self-talk about?
It’s not just the one interview or one case study that determines whether or not you get the job.
It starts way before that.It starts from what you’re telling yourself when you open up your internet browser to check your email for responses, or looking at your calendar for scheduled interviews.
Your success is a culmination of the beliefs you have about yourself.
