Maui’s Epic Swim 🌊
Good morning.
We interrupt your Olympic/Paralympic highlights with news from the open water world.
Three days ago, 20 of the greatest ocean water swimmers, representing six different continents, began an epic adventure swim around the island of Maui. This is not a simple open water event; this is a 20 day journey that will showcase the island of Maui in a multitude of ways.
Epic Swim Maui is an official event of the UN Oceans Decade and its mission is to focus the world’s attention on the challenges our ocean’s and near shore environments face. This is more than just a swim. This is a call to action, and a key factor is establishing and creating links between ocean athletes, scientists, indigenous leaders, government officials, and NGO and corporate representatives.
In order to take care of our oceans, we must come up with solutions and showcase best practices together.
