Conference Championships Updates!

Good morning.

What. A. Weekend. If this weekend’s conference champions are any indication of how NCAA’s are to go, we are in for a fast and exciting array of NCAA Championship meets!

CG Sports is proud to have represented athletes of the ACC’s, SEC’s, and Big Ten Championships this past weekend. Here’s how each of our athletes made waves:

Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)

  • Katie Grimes (Virginia) gathered multiple accolades in her first collegiate season, winning the women’s 500 free (4:32.69) and 400 IM (3:59.69). Additionally, Katie posted a fifth place finish in a stacked women’s 200 fly (1:53.63) field.

  • Dare Rose (California) posted podium finishes in the men’s 100 fly (44.55, 3rd) and 200 fly (1:39.47, 2nd). He was also a member of Cal’s second place 400 medley relay (3:01.92), swimming the butterfly leg.

Southeastern Conference (SEC)

  • Jordan Crooks (Tennessee) splashed through the SECs, posting first place finishes and new records. He collected individual victories in the 50 free (17.85) and 100 free (40.45 - SEC meet record) and was a relay member of the NCAA record-breaking 200 free relay (1:12.80) and 400 free relay (2:42.41).

  • Camille Spink (Tennessee) posted victories in the women’s 50 (21.23), 100 (46.25), and 200 free (1:42.06), becoming the first woman to sweep the sprint freestyle events since 3x Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce did so in 2007.

  • McKenzie Siroky (Tennessee) claimed second in the women’s 100 breaststroke (57.27) and was third overall in the women’s 200 breaststroke (2:06.57).

Big Ten Conference (B1G)

  • Phoebe Bacon (Wisconsin) was named Swimmer of the Women’s B1G Championships for the second year in a row. She collected individual victories in the women’s 200 IM (1:53.12), 100 Back (50.14), and 200 Back (1:48.75). Phoebe’s 200 back victory made her a four-time champion in the 200 back!

Congrats to all athletes on a great weekend of swimming!

Lessons Learned from Cejih

Each week, Cejih sends out a weekly email to the entire team. Some weeks it arrives on Monday, while others it arrives on Friday. Many times this is dependent on if he is traveling or not.

These weekly emails are encouraging, enlightening, and informative. As a team, we can expect business updates, task lists, and knowledge dumps delivered in an upbeat tone.

This week’s email contained an important lesson on time management, one I will certainly seek to practice more:

“Do one thing at a time only.

Do it well.

Do it to completion

Only then, move on to the next thing.”

In a world that seems to move faster and faster each day, it feels ever more prudent to follow advice like Cejih’s to ensure that we are moving the needle on productivity without burning out our attention spans.

This week, trying jotting your daily tasks down in a focused manner (in a notebook, on individual sticky notes, in  a planner) and then work on them one at a time.
