Hallmark’s Love Letter to Sports

Good morning.

The holiday season typically means binge-watching holiday movies and eating all of your favorite nostalgic dishes. This year, Hallmark has added to the movie rotation with the creation of a new movie that is a love letter to sports fans. (Full disclosure: it’s also a rom-com; this is a Hallmark movie.)

Holiday Touchdown: A Chief’s Love Story includes many of the classic elements that Hallmark is known for: charm, an unexpected connection, heartfelt moments, and well-placed cameos.

But most importantly (arguably), it breaks out of Hallmark’s typical mold and touches on a connection that many families share: the love for a sports team. Holiday Touchdown highlights the deep roots that sports can hold within our families and that the love of a sports team is something that is best shared.

This holiday season, we hope you find time to share a game, share some memories, and share your love for cheesy holiday movies.

8 End of the Year Posts for any Athlete (or any brand really):

  1. Thank your community for their support in 2024: This was likely a huge year for you with many people cheering you along the way (more than you may know). Nothing beats genuine gratitude. Have fun and thank all of your peeps for an amazing 2024.

  2. Share Your Goals for 2025: Many will set goals, but few will share. Here’s the thing: People love it when you “build” in public. As you look ahead at your 2025 goals, feel free to share a few with your following. They will repay you big time.

  3. Gift Guide: Share your favorite gift items, make some recommendations and give some love to your sponsors. If you need to make an end of the year post for a sponsor, this is great one to give them some love.

  4. Lessons Learned: Reflection and gratitude are #trending. In an age where we all have the attention span of 1 second on social media, people will stop and read a good “What I Learned this year” post. If you REALLY want to flex, write it as a blog post first. Then, make an IG post with just the title and a teaser. Link the IG post back to your website. Just like that, you are engaging on social and driving traffic to your website, all from one piece of content. Can I get a high five?

  5. How it started vs How it’s going: Repost your first and last post of 2024 and write a short summary in the caption.

  6. Biggest Wins of 2024: Highlight your highlights. Share some insider info behind each one. This one always slaps.

  7. Give a shoutout to your team: No one does it alone. If you don’t like talking about yourself on social media, then this is great one for you. Make a special post about the team that supports you, so you can do all of the amazing work that you do. Doesn’t have to be a super long post either. Your team will know what you mean and will appreciate the message.

  8. Sneak Peak - What’s coming in 2025: Give your peeps a sneak peak of a cool project, new venture or something you are excited to tackle in 2025. Everyone likes being on the inside scoop. This goes back to the idea of “building in public’ mentioned in #2.

Good luck! If you do any of these, please share or tag @cgsportsco to let us know.
