Part 2: How to loop your agent in
Introducing and looping in your agent - how to do it
As a professional you will receive business inquiries from many different groups. This can include: governing bodies, companies, sponsors, teams, media companies, journalists, publicists, PR agencies, marketing agencies, authors, local businesses, charities, TV producers, film producers, network producers, apparel brands, equipment manufacturers and merchandisers just to name a few. Inquiries will come in through email, direct message, text, coaches, family, close friends and many other third parties.
As inquiries come in loop in your agent as early as possible. By looping in your agent it demonstrates professionalism and that your time is valuable. An agent will follow up and follow through on all inquiries and report back to you.
Here are a few good examples of how to bring your agent into the conversation.
Example 1 (via email):
“Hi Sponsor!
Thank you for reaching out. This sounds like an interesting opportunity and I would like to learn more.
My schedule is pretty tight with training so I am looping in my agent, Cejih ‘CG’ Yung. He will reach out to you to connect on a scheduled call and take it from there.
I look forward to hearing out it goes and hopefully there is an opportunity for us to work together.
Thank you!
--Athlete”
Example 2 (DM via social media):
Sponsor: “Hi Athlete - We are interested in sending you some free product and would love to get your thoughts. If reviews are positive we can chat about a partnership. Does that sound of interest?”
Athlete: “Hi there. Yes I would be interested and I’m actually a current customer of your products. Definitely a big fan. I’d like to hear more about what a partnership would look like. Can I get your email and then loop in my agent? He has some good ideas on a mutually beneficial partnership.”
