My Takeaways from Champion’s Mojo Podcast: Creating an Environment for Champions

For those of you who may not know, there is this amazing podcast out there called “Champion’s Mojo”. It is hosted by two award winning hosts, Kelly Palace and Maria Parker. They are life coaches, world class competitive athletes, successful businesswomen and bestselling authors.

Have you ever listened to a podcast episode that was so good, you actually felt like you were in the room for the conversation? That’s the best way I can describe the Champion’s Mojo podcast.

On this particular episode, Kelly and Maria discuss “Creating an Environment for Champions”. It’s 21 mins of incredibly actionable ideas that will help you take steps towards being a champion in your realm.

Here are my 2 main takeaways:

  1. Champions embrace and study failure: You always hear “learn from your mistakes”. However, champions take this one step further. They ‘embrace’ failure and will dissect it, in order to learn as much as possible about themselves from this one failure. I think they also do not let a series of failures get them down (too much).

For me personally, I tend to move very fast from project to project. As a result, I can rebound very quickly from a failure. But as a tradeoff, I do not always carve out time to stop and take the time to ‘study’ the failure. My takeaway is that, “failure is where the good stuff” is. So embrace it.

  2. Unclutter Your Physical and Emotional Space: This one rang true for me, especially now. Closing out December, I really backed off and went into full Cejih ‘relaxation mode’. As a tradeoff, things started to pile up and my workspace became more cluttered. When I sat down at my desk on the first Monday of 2022 I was able to push through the clutter. However, by Tuesday - I was hitting a mental block, ha! During lunch, I listened to this podcast episode and that’s when a lightbulb went off, “I’m struggling today because my area is so cluttered! I just need to carve out time to clean this up and that will help me get back into my flow.”

The full episode breaks down 6 ways to create an environment for a champion: Control negative input; Embrace and study failure; Unclutter both physical space and emotional space; Take control of your actions and environment; Beautify your environment to your taste and needs; Surround yourself with other champions.

This was a great episode to listen to and one that I recommend to any athlete, professional or lifelong learner.
