Here’s a treat 🍨

Good morning. It's hot here in Arizona, and I bet it is where you are, too.

If you're having ice cream for breakfast - you get no judgment from me. Hey! Speaking of scoops, one of the great things about being a sports enthusiast is that there is never a shortage of news. For instance, the last week has seen:

A multi-day women's Tour de France begin after a 30+ year hiatus; updates about the XFL's relaunch for the 2023 season; and seven new members inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame

Plus, records were shattered in Eugene, Oregon, at the World Athletics ChampionshipsAlyson Felix concluded her Worlds career with a record 20 medals; Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard won his first Tour de France title; and the Los Angeles Rams revealed their Super Bowl Championship rings.

This is by no means an all-encompassing list of all that is happening in the world of sports, but it is a memorable snapshot. If there's a takeaway from all of these headlines, it is this: the sports landscape is far from stagnant and there are more exciting announcements, developments, and competitions to come.

Regardless of your sport, enjoy the news (and your ice cream).

How NILs Affect Brand Deals

By now, most of our readers are no stranger to updates being released surrounding the Name, Image, and Likeness policy. In growing your brand as an athletes or team, these recent developments could seem wild and confusing - it is an entirely new environment with its own unique challenges. With competitive imbalances between states, it's important to maximize the benefits that these NIL policies have for you! (Check here to see what NIL legislation looks like in your state.) Whether you're an NCAA athlete or coach, looking into branding could mean endorsement benefits.

On the flip side, if you're a brand, looking into starting a deal with these newly marketable athletes could boost your audience reach. Student-athletes may have upwards of a couple thousand followers on social media - that's a pretty large handful of potential clients. Whichever side of the NIL policy you fall on, there are plenty of opportunities to benefit from these updates, all of which we can help you with!

Champion's Mojo, Episode #166: "Charlotte Sanddal: At 100 Years of Age, a Strong, Social, Swim Champion"

Does 100 years of age sound too old to start everyday with a dozen full push-ups? Or too old to be a swim champion, swimming 5 days a week, driving yourself, playing bridge weekly? How about traveling to Japan from the US?  Attending a podcast interview recorded on Zoom?  Too old for that? Or too old to be using an iphone? Well, if you said yes to any of these, you’d would be wrong.

Charlotte Sanddal, who turns 100 years old in August of 2022, recently made news when she finished a 500-yard freestyle at the US Masters Spring Nationals while doing all flip turns, something many younger swimmers cannot even do. Charlotte entered the sport of swimming at age 72 as a member of the Montana Masters Team and  this year alone has won nine gold medals from two national meets, has over 400 Master races under her belt, and holds multiple national and world swimming records.
