“Three things I’m working on…”
It’s a simple but effective phrase. And what we have found as a company is that it allows us to do three specific things:
Streamline communication. Many of us work virtually, hybrid, or may just be in our own heads. Carving out time each week to share what you’re working on is essential for good team communication and can make the communication process easier if you need to ask someone for help later on.
Share successes. Living in a bubble is sad and boring. If you do something great, celebrate it and find someone to celebrate with! This not only shows the good work that you are doing, but also could open the door for future collaboration.
Prep for future projects. When you have knowledge of current projects, it can help you to better prepare for future projects. This is because you can eliminate, create, and expand upon what you are doing as a company — all because you have streamlined communication.
As a member of the marketing team, I especially love this process because it keeps me in tune with what people in other departments are up to. I might not work with someone on a project, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t know a) what they’re working on or b) how to support them from a marketing perspective down the road.
