How athletes and agents can win with video
Today we are going to dive into the power of video and why you should use it to tell your story. Let's get into it.
Control your narrative: When I first started agenting, I would use a ton of imagery and text articles to make my case about an athlete to a sponsor. It was time consuming and hard to control the narrative. Today this can all be done through the simple use of video. A good example can be found here with our hype video about new client, Maddy Banic. This allows us to focus the conversation on Maddy's story, brand values and personality. Video allows you to play to your strengths and have greater control of your narrative.
Capture your audience’s imagination: Video is a great way to get your audience thinking more creatively about how to engage with you. Pro tip: not everything has to be professionally edited. We have had great success through simple, authentic and raw video of our clients. For many athletes the only video of them on the internet is from competitions - maybe a short post game interview. Not great for capturing an athlete's brand story. The more video an athlete can make available to your audience, the more ways a sponsor can get creative on how to work with them.
Show your value through short video clips: Many of our clients have seen growth through creating short simple clips where they share tips related to their area of expertise. This can cover a vast range of topics from training, mental health, nutrition, sport specific tips, music recommendations, book writing - you name it. These clips can live forever and add to the athlete's platform of being able to add value to a sponsor. It makes the athlete multi-dimensional, shows their personality, speaking skills and how they engage with an audience. Any sponsor will jump on an athlete who can demonstrate this.
