9 life hacks for better sales
Sales is a fun one! In many ways it mirrors the same attributes required in sports to be successful. Even though I’m a sports agent by trade, I try to learn from great sales mentors in all fields. It has helped me immensely over my career. Below are some tips from tech sales guru Chris Orlob that I want to share with our audience. There’s some great stuff in here for all you dealmakers out there.
9 life hacks for salespeople by Chris Orlob:
Add a “p.s.” to every cold email. The P.S. is the most-read part of every email.
Plan every day in advance. Your productivity will skyrocket when you know how you’ll spend your time in advance.
Work in 90 minute sprints. Then take a 30 minute break. Your body’s “energy rhythms” work in 90 minute windows. Don’t just manage your time. Manage your energy.
Reduce the time you spend preparing for cold calls. Cold calling is scary. It’s easy to procrastinate. Just do it. Face it head on. Overcome you discomfort with action.
Make 30 new “touches” every single day. In 30 days, you’ll have reached out to 900 new people. Your pipeline will be huge.
Write your cold emails in the shape of an “F”. Eye research shows that the “F” pattern is how people read online. They read a couple full sentences only. Then skim the rest.
Never join a sales call without knowing your next step. Know the what, why, and who of the next step you’ll suggest. That way you’re leading your buyer.
Build your skills like crazy. Skill acquisition is the key to sales success. You’re not “years” away from your goals. You’re “skills” away from it. Build your skills accordingly.
Realize there is no “easy” button or shortcut. The best career hack is realizing consistency is what matters. Day in. Day out. Show up every day.
